China Institute\u00a0and\u00a0Yue-Sai Kan China Beauty Charity Fund\u00a0(CBCF) announced that the fifth annual\u00a0China Fashion Gala\u00a0has been rescheduled as a one-hour virtual event to be broadcasted globally on\u00a0Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 8 p.m. ET. The annual celebration of Chinese design serves as a platform for Chinese talent emerging onto the international stage, as well as a forum for recognizing individuals whose contributions have helped position China at the forefront of global fashion and beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China Fashion Gala 2020 will be hosted by\u00a0Yue-Sai Kan, co-chair of China Institute and founder and chairwoman of CBCF. \u201cThese days, everything seems to be upside down, but China Institute has weathered many storms throughout its nearly 100 years,\u201d observed Kan. \u201cWe believe that it\u2019s important that the world know China through its culture \u2013 through fashion, music, dance and language. With our friends from all over, our charity gala \u2018One World in Beauty\u2019 will celebrate beauty in its many delightful and wonderous forms to deliver a message of inspiration and hope.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year\u2019s gala will honor\u00a0Est\u00e9e Lauder\u00a0with the\u00a0Beauty Award. This inaugural award will be accepted by Group President, The Est\u00e9e Lauder Companies, and Global Brand President, Est\u00e9e Lauder\u00a0Stephane de La Faverie, presented by\u00a0Yang Mi.\u00a0Chinese investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist\u00a0Wendy Yu\u00a0will be honored with the\u00a0Millennial Leadership Award, presented by\u00a0Jason Wu. Chinese American designer\u00a0Phillip Lim\u00a0will be honored with the\u00a0Leadership Award, presented by\u00a0Lisa Ling. Actress, director, artist and activist\u00a0Lucy Liu\u00a0will be honored with the\u00a0Icon Award, presented by Yue-Sai Kan. Each award has been donated by\u00a0Baccarat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Co-chairs of the gala include\u00a0Meihodo Co., Ltd.;\u00a0Mark Gong, emerging Chinese designer;\u00a0Julian Rizzuto, international marketing and sales executive of Conair Corporation; and\u00a0Jeannette Chang, former SVP of Hearst Magazines International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Proceeds from the gala will benefit the many diverse programs of China Institute, the oldest independent, non-profit organization in America to focus exclusively on China. Founded in 1926, China Institute serves as a gateway for Americans to all things China: education, culture, art and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
